Zimbabwe lost to Algeria 87-67 in their opening encounter.T Maturure was the lone star in the match as he had 14 points and 10 rebounds. Next up for Zimbabwe was a match against Les Elephants of Cote D`Ivoire which was also not going to be an easy task for them considering the differences in size. The Ivorians came into the match well known for their size and they utilised it fully romping to a 64-52 victory.

Vitalis Chikoko came good in the match as he had 17 poitns and 10 rebounds in a match in which he truly rose to the occassion. SSouleyman Diabate was the star for Les Elephants as he had 17 points and 5 rebounds which was however not as good as Chikoko`s figures despite them getting the win eventually.

Top of the charts for Zimbabwe was once again Vitalis Chikoko as he had 11 pts and 11 rebounds in the match.  Zimbabwe had a better shot rate as they had 48 - 36.
