Ce N'était Qu'un Rêve Pour les Chevrons

Image

Kirsty Coventry Named the Sports Minister!

Image
By Perkins Bare Kirsty Coventry has been appointed the new Minister of Sports, Arts and Youth  in a move that could possibly change Zimbabwean Sports for the good. The 34-year old Olympiad has been named in a new cabinet announced by His Excellency CDE ED Mnangagwa at the State House later this afternoon, Hon Kirsty was named new Minister of Sports Arts and Youths. The main reason why this was a formidable appointment in my view is because Kirsty Coventry is someone who is already on the ground getting her hands dirty and this is just but a title for she has been working to try and bring change already.  She is a member of the ANOCA Athlete's Commission, Vice-President of the Zimbabwe Olympic Committee and provides coaching and swimming lessons at her non-profit organization, the Kirsty Coventry Academy, and has recently launched a program for low-income and underserved areas - HEROES: Empowering children through sport. Heroes is a community-based program that was launche

OK Let`s Settle This Once and For All : Are Left Handers the Greatest of All Time?

Image
Mitchell Johnson By Perkins Bare First of all happy left hander`s day if you clicked on this link with your left hand and hope you had a wonderful left hander`s day yesterday. One of a bowler`s greatest innate qualities has always been being left handed and batsmen always had that fear of seeing a left hander running up the pitch but of all who`ve graced the game of cricket we look at those who`ve wrecked the records to make us believe that if you`re a bowler and you were born right handed then you`re screwed because someone out there is better than you. `It is hard to see why the left-arm quick bowler should be such a rarity. In any adversarial sport there are advantages to being a minority` writes The New York Times. According to study done by the journal Biology Letters it was proven that left handers actually do have an added advantage, “The data suggests that the heavier the time constraints are operating in a sport, the larger the proportion of left-handers,” sa

Zimbabwe Cricket Announces Squad for Tri Series

Image
By Perkins Bare It’s the chevrons but its not the Chevrons, that was the order of the day as the duel between Zimbabwe Cricket and its players has reached a split with the mother body announcing a squad without 5 of its senior players. In the front seat we have Zimbabwe Cricket board in their suits and ready for business and in the blue corner we have the players themselves in their blue shorts and still whining over their unpaid salaries and threatening to boycott the match unless they are paid by the 25th of June or at least a settlement is made (that means a promise hey). These have the backing of the former players who have served Zimbabwe Cricket for the rest of their lives like Stephen Mangongo who`s suing ZC for 19 years salaries (just how old is this guy???). So the two split after the dismissal of Heath Streak which was deemed as unfair and people calling for the dismissal of the whole board instead which then messed everything up as Zimbabwe is now facing dismissal itse

All Things Fall Apart For Zimbabwe Cricket

Image
By Perkins Bare  The storm at Zimbabwe Zimbabwe Cricket seems to be slowly reaching its peak after the resignation of the Managing Director Faisal Hasnain putting pressure on the rest of the ZC board to follow suite. with captains jumping out of this inking ship it seemed to be yet another bad day for Zimbabwe Cricket as this was then followed by the cancellation of the second year of the Rising Stars programme, which is essentially a 5-year programme and was forming the backbone of Zimbabwe Cricket`s player development.     “Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) wishes to announce that Faisal Hasnain has officially resigned from his position as managing director, with immediate effect,” read the statement released by Zimbabwe Cricket. The saddest part of the day was definitely the boycott being planned by the players in the upcoming T20 series against Australia and Pakistan. With the players still to be paid their March and April salaries the players are owed close to $40,000
