Zimbabwe’s top ranked amateur golfer Scott Vincent is set to tee off with the recently crowned Masters champion Jordan Spieth who was crowned at Augustus this past weekend. the two are set to go head to head this upcoming weekend as they battle it out in the RBC Heritage Classic on April 16-20 at the Harbour Town Golf Links at Sea Pines Plantation in Hilton Head, South Carolina. This will be a chance for Scott Vincent to turn pro and speaking on the tourney in an interview the humble Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University senior was quick to rubbish any expectations as he dismissed anything big saying that to him this was an opportunity to learn from the best. "Don't set expectations too high and just soak every bit of what there is to soak in on the PGA Tour." Speaking on his chances in the tournament he went on to add, "I'm just here to learn," he said. "Hopefully I'll be back in a few years' time." Vincent was quick

Castle Lager Matchday 5 Roundup

Castle Lager Matchday 5 Roundup By Perkins-Tino Bare Triangle maintained their position at the top of the standings as the absence of Ronald Chitiyo weighed heavily on Dynamos as they scrambled a 1-0 victory over a struggling Flame Lil. The new boys occupy the relegation zone after matchday 5. The teams which were tipped to be part of the league contenders Caps United and FC Platinum both got a coppng this past weekend leaving them at  mid-table with a lot of work to do whilst pressure has already started to mount early on the gaffers especially Bongani Mafu who may not make it till the end of the season if he doesn`t get his team going.  No More Maffles The police had to intervene once again at Barbourfields as pressure continued to mount on the Highlanders gaffer Bongani Mafu after he succumbed to his second defeat after they lost the first game of the season 2-0 to ZPC Kariba and have two wins and a draw. Bosso went down to a bottom of the log Chapungu who had gone into th

Tricky Draw For Warriors

Image
By Perkins-Tino Bare It was 3 years ago, more precisely it was on the 3rd of June in 2012 at the National Sports stadium when an Ibrahim Traore beauty of a free-kick left Tapuwa Kapini standing in awe. This time round it will be different as we have a young squad which just beat a rebuilding Cameroon young side and it ought to be a different ball game in this round of qualifiers as we have scores to settle. Zimbabwe got a tricky draw for the upcoming AFCON qualifiers as they were drawn in Group L where they will face Guinea, Swaziland and Malawi. The draw was held in Cairo, Egypt, with the qualifiers starting on the weekend of June 12-14 and CAF also selected GABON as the hosts for the 2017 tournament. Malawian coach Chimodzi was quick tom point out that the group was `not bad` and is rather bullish. The winner of each group qualifies for the finals along with the two best runners-up. It is a tough format, which makes a favourable draw crucial to any country’s chances. Zimbabwe we

Chevrons to tour Pakistan Perkins-Tino Bare The Pakistan-born Sikander Raza is set to visit his home town as Zimbabwe Cricket is set to break a 6 year jinx of no home-cricket for Pakistan as they have agreed to tour Pakistan for a five-match one-day series next month, the first Test-playing nation to visit in six years, Pakistan's cricket chief said Thursday. The tour is expected to be comprised of 3 ODI`s and 2 T20`s as one source confirmed yesterday with more details still yet to be finalised. The tour which was organised by the Pakistan Cricket board was confirmed by their chairman Shehryar Khan as he said "Zimbabwe's final reply is that yes we want to come to Pakistan and although there are some details to be finalised we hope that they will come to play five one-day matches -- three in Lahore and two in Karachi -- next month," said Shehryar Khan in an interview, who is the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board. The visit would make Zimbabwe the first team f

Welcome Aboard Whatmore !

By   Perkins-Tino Bare Dav Whatmore is expected to finalise his contract with Zimbabwe Cricket as he is expected to sign a 4 year deal which will run through to the next World Cup to be hosted in 2019 by England. We all saw what the guy can do for our team this past tourney as it was clearly visible in our team`s performance for in spite of the fact that we went out at the group stages with one win and a loss to an associate nation, the boys went down fighting and it is mainly this spirit the winning mentality that Whatmore has to pass on to the players. In Whatmore we not only have a World Cup winning coach but this is one guy who can surely transform the team for it has certainly proved the old adage that just as winning is a habit so is losing true. In Whatmore we have the value of a guy who can indeed instill a winning mentality in the team and make us a better test playing nation.   Whatmore’s contract with Zimbabwe was to last until the end of the Wo
