Race Card Out In Minor Sports. Again

By Perkins-Tino Bare After the South African Sports Minister earlier this week banned a total of four sports association from bidding or hosting any major tournaments the race card is being whipped out once again as the discussions all around are over correcting the injustices that were done to the blacks during apartheid. One thign that stuck out in the ban was that the associations were responsible as they failed to meet their own set targets and there could not therefore blame the minister nor the government for imposing a target that was not viable in the set time. But after all transformation is not that easy as this goes way back into our history as blacks in general. Zimbabwe Cricket once tried it and it failed dismally in their quest which explains the dire mode that the game finds itself in. By Perkins-Tino Bare South African Sports Minister Fikile Mbalula cracked the whip on Cricket South Africa and Rugby South Africa as they were banned from hosting any major tournaments for failing to meet their own transformation targets of including both players and coaches of color in their structures. By Perkins-Tino   Bare Chicken Inn   (1) 2   Highlanders   (1) 1 The Gamecocks won their 1 st piece of silverware as they came from behind to beat Highlanders 2-1 in a match played out at the National Sports Stadium. The match started off at a great tempo with Bosso dictating the play. Both teams were surely in search of that early goal and it was just left to the defenders to play way up the line and catch the strikers in the offside trap. It worked for both sides as they showed no respect for each other with Bosso enjoying most of the play. The first goal of the match came in the 20 th minute as Bruce Kangwa got the opener for Bosso. In the 23 rd minute he was at it again on the left flank this time around combining with Knox Mutizwa before he squared the ball beautifully in the box though it had no takers. The Gamecocks kept looking for that equaliser and it did not take them long either to level matters. Passmore Bernanrd charged on the right flank before he
