Ghevrons, Pakistan, Which Has The Better Squad? By Perkins-Tino Bare Both Zimbabwe and Pakistan named strong squads in their own respects for their upcoming series running from September 27 to the 5 th of October. The Chevrons will be looking forward to gain some respect from their fans who have been patient with them but the repeated manner in which they lose matches makes one wonder when exactly they are going to eventually cross that line into success. More Of The Same Dose Zimbabwe Cricket named an unchanged squad to represent the Chevrons, these are basically the same guys who have been turning up for the Chevs but there`s also some space for the young talent in the squad as we saw the inclusion of 3 guys who haven`t been turning out for the Chevrons. The skipper will be none other than Elton Chigimbura and he is expected to lead the team in both the ODI`s not so sure about the T20`s and that whole experiment of letting Raza take over, which was successful; th

Castle Lager Match-Day 23 Round-Up

By Perkins-Tino Bare It was a Marikana clash at Luveve stadium yesterday as the miners went head to head with FC platinum downing How Mine in a manner which clearly showed that they still had their eye on nothing else but the league title this year. Dynamos on the other hand showed a great boncebackability as they blew away a seemingly drunk side getting a total of 5 goals in the first half. The three wins see them maintaining their spots with the gamecocks leading the race by 5 points whilst Dynamos are in 3 rd trailing by 7 points. Triangle are now all but out of the race as they lie 4 th 12 points behind the leaders. You Cant Stop Me! This year`s league title seems to be headed for a dramatic enduing as the pace-setters the Gamecocks seem are not wavering in their quesst at bringing the title back to Bukawayo after a painful 9 years. Going into match-day 23 leading the pack by a comfortable 5 points, Chicken Inn had a rather challenging task ahead of them as th

Zimbabwe Cricket Announces Squad to Face Pakistan

Image
By Perkins-Tino Bare Zimbabwe Cricket announced their squad to play Pakistan in the series on the 27 h of September in which the Chevrons will play 3 ODIs and 2 T20s. The squad includes has been dubbed `performance -related by convenor of selectors Kenyon Ziehl. “It’s a squad based on building a performance-related culture and giving a platform to the younger players to prove their ability,”. This comes as a revelation as, of late, despite the poor performances from the team the selectors just kept rotating the same old horses with Prosper Utseya as the most painful thorn in that bunch. The team that was selected for the task is therefore expected to be going through their paces as we speak at the Harare Sports Club with the series kicking off in about a week`s time. The squad comprise of wicket-keeper batsman Richmond Mutumbami who comes in for the dropped Regis Chakabva. As the selectors still search for the man who will go ahead to replace Brendan Taylor as the wic

By Perkins-Tino Bare As the league slowly winds to an end the Gamecocks had a chance to extend their lead with a 6 pointer at stake as they played ZPC Kariba at home while Dynamos had a difficult trip to Mandava ahead of them. FC Platinum is making their late charge at the League title believable each passing day as the defending champions Dynamos painfully watch the gamecocks run away with it. Pure Platinum Played It was a day to remember for Norman Mapeza as his side blew away the defending champions Dynamos 3-1 in a match played at Mandava on Saturday. FC Platinum started off well in the match and they took the lead within 6 minutes courtesy of Gift Bello but the crowd was still in for a lot of action as it only took Takesure Chinyama 5 minnutes to pull one back and equalise for Dembare. Obrey Chirwa restored FC Pllatinum`s lead afdter 3o minutes which ensured that they went to the break leading 2-1. In the second half Tonderayi Ndiraya took off Takesure Chiny

Ireland Confirm Zim Cricket Tour

By Perkins-Tino Bare Ireland confirmed their 3 ODI Zimbabwe tour which is set to kick-start on the 9th of October with further games on October 11 and 13. A four-day game against Zimbabwe A is also part of the tour and it will follow on October 17 before the Irish start their InterContinental Cup match in Namibia on October 24. Before the Ireland visit, Zimbabwe will host Pakistan for one-day internationals and two Twenty20 Internationals starting on September 27.The busy period for Zimbabwe Cricket continues as they look forward to win some matches and garner-up those valuable points to avoid having to go through the qualification phase in the next World Cup. "It's great to be playing what should be a really competitive series," Ireland head coach John Bracewell told espncricinfo,  "Ireland have enjoyed some really hard tussles with Zimbabwe over the years and I expect these games will be equally as tough. He then added that, "It'll be a test for the squa

Zimbabwe`s Presidents XI Disappoint in SA

By Perkins-Tino Bare Zimbabwe A got their campaign off to a disapointing start in the 2015 edition of the Africa T20 Cup being played in Benoni South Africa. Zimbabwe sent a team led by Malcolm Waller, dubbed the President`s XI. Zimbabwe`s first match was against Easterns but it was abandoned without a ball being balled on the day. The second match was played on Saturday and this was against the Northerns in which Zimbabwe lost by 6 wickets with 12 balls remaining in the match. Malcolm Waller and Richmond stepped up as the cream in the team which lost as they both chipped in with 36 but it was still not enough to carry the boys through. Waller hit 2 fours and 2 sixes in his innings and had a strike rate of 128.57 whilst wicket-keeper/ batsman Mutumbami had 1 four and a staggering 3 sixes. As for the rest they could not even handle it as they were being bowled out for pathetic figures. First in tio bat for Zimbabwe was PJ Moor who last got as run for the
