Chevrons Set to Host Pakistan and Australia in Tri-Series

By Perkins-Tino Bare

Zimbabwe Cricket is set to resume to action with a T20 tri-series against Pakistan and Australia slated for July at the Harare Sports Club. On the domestic front the A- List games were also announced as the boys get back to the pitch after failing to qualify for the World Cup.

Speaking at a press conference held by Zimbabwe Cricket Faisal Hasnain, ZC MD said "Playing two of the game's biggest teams will provide us with a very welcome litmus test as we forge ahead with our plans to develop a stronger Zimbabwe side capable of consistently competing and winning against the best," Faisal Hasnain, he said n an interview.

Australia and Pakistan are set to come for a T20 tri-series in July with the final slated for 8 July. After that the Chevrons will then take on Pakistan in a 5 match ODI series set for the queens Sports Club as they look to try and get some game time.

It seemed as if its back to business for ZC as their break-up with Heath Streak gets nastier. Yesterday the latter was reinstated only to be fired again over 24 hours as the saga continues to rage on. The fans have mixed feelings as some are calling that he be reinstated whilst others are unapologetic accussing them of being held up in the euphoria of the Heath Streak the bowler during the glory days.

The issue of the coach was not part of the agenda but ZC assured that discussions are in progress to get a replacement for Heath and as it stands Andy Flower is next in line to receive the wrath of the incompetent ZC board. The board also ensured that they had deployed over a 100 coaches at grassroots level to try and ensure a smooth transition of the players who have for long disappointed fans.

The Zimbabwe domestic Cricket league is set to start on the 17th of April with List A, Pro50 as well the Logan Cup set to take place and this should offer the domestic players some valuable game-time.

What should be worrying for Zimbabwe Cricket at this moment is hat we`re officially out of the ODI after the upset in the qualifiers and then when the Test Championship starts we will not also take part in that. So that excludes Zimbabwe Cricket from two of the game`s formats which then leaves us with just T20 to focus on. The board itself at the moment is more concerned about how they can generate more income to clear their debts when they are done ruining the game that should be generating money for them.
