Rising Stars Dominate Chevrons Line-Up For Tri-Series in Bangladesh

The Zimbabwe Cricket team is set to leave for Bangladesh tomorrow with three Rising Stars Academy call-ups making the all the noise. The Chevrons are set to feature in a tri-series pitting Bangladesh and Sri Lanka starting on the 15th in Mirpur Bangladesh.
The three are 19 year old Ryan Murray, 20 year old Brian Mavuta who makes his debut and also 21 year old blessing Muzarabani who earned his place after a decen outing with the Proteas in which he was able to maintain speeds of 140km/h with the pink ball down in South Africa. He will be looking to build on that reputation he has started to build for himself as a genuine seamer.
Brian Mavuta is reveling at the call-up for the selectors have sort of decided build the team to be centered around the Rising Stars academy with Brendan Taylor and Kyle Jarvis looking to add more experience to a squad that in essence still has a lot to learn before we can start talking about going back to our glory days.
Speaking on the call-up of the youngsters the Chevrons coach Heath Streak said ‘Mavut is our cover spin option, Raza and Cremer frontline spinners often in Bangladesh you end up playing three spinners, Murray is young talent we want to see him, he has done well at Under-19, he has shown lots of maturity he is a specialist keeper and handy middle order batsman. With the conditions looking set to favor spin on the day the youngster will also profit of the same conditions they bailed out of the Under 19 World Cup where Brian Mavuta was the captain of that team. ’Muzarabani is someone we want to work with, has been consistent performances’ Streak later added.
With the youngsters now getting game time some of them like Muzarabani are starting to hit that form and with that comes consistent performances. This has been the noticeable change on the selectors side so far.
The team will leave for Bangladesh tomorrow where they will play their first game on the 13th with the Bangladesh Cricket Board XI before they play their first match of the tri-series on the 15th. against Bangladesh. The tri-series also includes Sri-Lanka where they will each play two matches before the final.
Other members in the team include Malcolm Waller who gets a call-up after he was snubbed during the one-off Test in South Africa. He’s also set to add experience to that team together with Craig Ervine. The Chevrons will end their tour of Bangladesh end of January where they’l come back for a 5 ODI series against Afghanistan in February.
