This was the UAE`s first victory over a Test nation as they won the match by three runs in a match which was rather affected by rain. By Perkins-Tino Bare   Zimbabwe beat Afghanistan by 2 runs in a thriller played at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo as they held their nerve to bowl out Afghanistan for 194 after they had set a target of 197 to win the match.   The Chevrons went in to bat first as they lost all three openers losing the wicket of Solomon Mire, Cephas Zhuwawo and Hamilton Masakadza for a meagre 7 runs. This would have put into question the aggressive approach being employed by the coach as the middle order is having to do the dirty work. They once again stepped up to the plate and held the wicket fall following a 98 run wicket stand between Sikandar Raza and Brendan Taylor who has seen a turn of fortunes ever since he was dropped down the batting line up. By Perkins-Tino Bare Zimbabwe will be looking to unleash Cephas Zhuwawo and Solomon Mire in the upcoming World Cup Qualifiers as they employ an aggressive approach with the bat. The pair are set to enforce the top-order which has of late hasn’t performed.   Speaking at a Press briefing, Graeme Cremer revealed that the two are set to be right up the top order and then Brendan Taylor will be set to enforce the experience as the two are essentially hard hitters. Sean Williams is set to have a screw removed from his finger on Thursday before the tournament and he is set to join the team at the group stages.   The team looks fairly balanced at the top as we have managed to get hard hitters with Cephas Zhuwawo and Solomon Mire. By Perkins-Tino Bare   Ryan Burl and Tarisai Musakunda were dropped from the Zimbabwe Cricket squad as Sean Williams and Cephas Zhuwawo will replace the two in the current squad which was blown away by Afghanistan 4-1 in their 5 match ODI series which was played in the UAE.   The pair were dropped after a string of bad performances especially from Ryan Burl who had previous scores of 2,11,0 and 10 with the bat whilst he only managed to grab a wicket in the 4 matches that he played.   Tarisai Musakunda was equally missing from action as he failed to grab a wicket from the two matches that he played in the series. By Perkins-Tino Bare The Chevrons lost by six wickets to Afghanistan as they were bowled out for 154 and slumped 1-2 in their 5 match ODI series against Afghanistan.   Zimbabwe got off to a bad start as they lost Hamilton Masakadza, Brendan Taylor and Solomon Mire all for 44 bringing the Chevrons to 44-3 in the 7th over. Sikandar Raza and Craig Ervine stabilised the fall of wickets for a while as they took the Chevrons to 117 but by then Rashid Khan had already done the damage to the team losing their last 6 wickets for just 29 runs.   The Chevrons could only get to 154 all out which turned out to be a small task for Afghanistan to reach in just 27.3 overs. Rising Stars Dominate Chevrons Line-Up For Tri-Series in Bangladesh By Perkins-Tino Bare The Zimbabwe Cricket team is set to leave for Bangladesh tomorrow with three Rising Stars Academy call-ups making the all the noise. The Chevrons are set to feature in a tri-series pitting Bangladesh and Sri Lanka starting on the 15 th in Mirpur Bangladesh. The three are 19 year old Ryan Murray, 20 year old Brian Mavuta who makes his debut and also 21 year old blessing Muzarabani who earned his place after a decen outing with the Proteas in which he was able to maintain speeds of 140km/h with the pink ball down in South Africa. He will be looking to build on that reputation he has started to build for himself as a genuine seamer.
